Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing a homeowner sees, and it is one of the few ranking factors you control directly. Work through this checklist once, then keep the weekly items going.
Business information
- Business name exactly as it appears on signage and paperwork; no added keywords
- Phone number matches your website
- Accurate hours; list 24/7 only if you truly answer around the clock
Categories
- Primary category is the most specific accurate option (for example, Roofing contractor rather than Contractor)
- A few relevant secondary categories, not every loosely related one
Service area
- Service-area business: hide your address if customers do not visit you
- List the cities or areas your crews actually serve
- Make sure your website names the same areas
Services
- Add every service you offer, using the same names as your website’s service pages
- Write short, plain descriptions for each
Photos and posts
- Real photos of your team, trucks and completed jobs, added regularly
- A short post each week: a completed job, a seasonal reminder or an offer
Reviews
- Ask every satisfied customer, with a direct link sent by text after the job
- Respond to every review, positive or negative, promptly and professionally
Website alignment
| Profile field | Should match on your website |
|---|---|
| Business name | Header, footer, contact page |
| Phone | Every page |
